John G. Peaslee
John G. Peaslee, 61, a lifelong resident of San Lucas, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at his home.

John was born Jan. 21, 1947, in King City to Everett and June Peaslee. He attended King City High School where he participated in football and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He was a member of the Monterey Cattlemen's Association, a member and past president of the Monterey County Sheriff's Posse. He also served 24 years on the San Lucas School Board. John was a lifelong rancher and cattleman. He spent many a long days working his land and tending to his cattle. He could build, fix or make just about anything. In the 1980's he took over his father-in-law's air compressor business, Rodger's Supply and soon added an equestrian tack shop still in business today.

John was a real cowboy, rough and tough but he had a heart of gold. If someone needed something done or advise, they looked to him many times. He not only gave the advice to his fellow neighbors, friends and family, he got right in and helped whenever possible.

John was a active member of the Monterey County Sheriff's Posse for fourteen years during which he served as Captain for 3 years leading many parades, organizing Posse activities and was President of the Posse in 2006.

John was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Survivors: His loving wife Marilyn; children, Lisa Stacey of Oregon, Leah McCormick of Salinas; grandchildren, Justin Peaslee of Coalinga, Sydney Taylor of King City, Gareth, Everett and Gweneth McCormick all of Salinas; stepbrother, Bill Domingos of Salinas and numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Justin.
•Visitation: 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at Mission San Antonio.
•Rosary: 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at the mission.
•Funeral service: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Mission San Antonio.
•Interment: Will be held at a later date, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas.
