Acie Carter, 74, a former Hartnell College maintenance engineer, died unexpectedly Friday at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Park Hill, Okla., and lived in Salinas for 58 years.Mr. Carter serviced in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked at Hartnell College for 15 years. An avid cowboy and team roper, he was also a member of the Monterey County Sheriff's Posse. He is survived by two sons, Kevin Carter of Salinas and Larry Carter of Davis.
