Monterey County Sheriff's Posse - 2010 shooting program
Shoots will be held at the Monterey County Peace Officers range (membership required) at Laguna Seca
As most shooters know the cost and availability of ammunition continues to be a problem.
We will continue to award buckles or appropriate prizes to the top shooter for the year and the top gun and top 4 scores at the year end buckle shoot.
I hope these changes and the option to use other weapons encourages more participation.
I appreciate the Posse's continued support for this activity.
The cost per shoot will be as follows.
Cash, check or credit card will be accepted.
- $15 per shooter (no free ammo supplied)
- 38 Winchester wad cutter ammo is available for $15 per 50 round box while current supply lasts (limit 2 boxes per shooter at that price)
- If needed, each shooter may purchase one additional box of 38 ammo for $25
- Shooters have the option of supplying their own ammo.
The following weapons are allowed for the competitive shoot.
- Single (single action revolvers will be a major disadvantage for timed shoot) or double action revolver using 38 special ammo - speed loaders recommended
- Semi-automatic pistol 9mm, 40, or 45 caliber (these shooters are required to supply their own ammo)
The range master (John Carr) reserves the right to make changes as needed to ensure safety, fair competition and make shooting enjoyable.
